Biography

I was born in the Valley, grew up just outside of Los Angeles, and completed my BS in Biochemistry at California State University, Fullerton. Feeling trapped in the Los Angeles bubble, I decided to embark on the long trek up the coast to the even smaller bubble of Santa Barbara. I like it here. 

Research Area

My work explores the form-function relationship of iterative non-ribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs) involved in siderophore biosynthesis through cloning and site-directed mutagenesis. I am also isolating and characterizing bacterial siderophores predicted through genome mining techniques.
