Biography

I was born behind the Pine Curtain in Nacogdoches, Texas, and moved throughout the state until settling in Austin, Texas for my BS in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin. Deciding I wanted to know what life was like outside of Texas, I moved to Santa Barbara to pursue a PhD in Chemistry. When I'm not in lab, I like to hike, kayak, camp, and travel to new places.

My research focuses on predicting and characterizing siderophores with unusual characteristics through a genome mining approach.
