Biography

Nate came to UCSB in 2013. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Wheaton College (IL), where he worked under Dr. Ben Lovaasen studying the photophysics of chromium(III) polypyridine complexes.

Research Area

Nate's research involves the synthesis and characterization of new late metal coordination complexes (groups 9, 10, and 11) which feature metal-ligand multiple bonds. This work aims to expand our understanding of the structure and reactivity of this rare class of compounds. Preliminary studies indicate that these materials are able to perform unique activations of biologically important small molecules.
