My research at UCSB is divided into two projects. For the biochemistry-oriented project I am studying the binding properties of possible anti-cancer drugs to DNA G-quadruplexes using ion mobility mass spectrometry and circular dichroism. For the second project, I am studying a series of rigid organometallic compounds of varying shapes in order to improve our cross-section calculation methods and to evaluate the suitability of these compounds as new calibrants for ion-mobility instruments.
