Carlos is an undergraduate Chemistry student from the University of Texas at El Paso. He will be graduating in Fall 2018. Back at UTEP, he works in Dr. Noveron’s lab synthesizing and binding cationic ligands to negatively charged DNA to create nano-structured material. He joined the Hayton lab as an intern from the FLAM program in Summer 2018, under the mentorship of Andrew Cook.
Carlos is working on the synthesis and characterization of new ketimide ligands. He is also exploring their reactivity with the first row transition metals.
