John Bushnell

In the Bowers Group, I primarily studied the interaction of transition metal cations with dihydrogen and methane. This included equilibrium and kinetic studies in order to measure binding energies and elucidate mechanisms of sigma bond activation. It also included a significant amount of ab-initio calculations to help explain observed trends in binding energies and reactivity, especially due to low-lying electronic states in transition metals.
